Coleslaw

Coleslaw isn’t just a regular plain salad but it can be used in endless ways. You can either pair it up with barbecued chicken or burger, make a coleslaw sandwich or use it as a topping on your fried chicken. You can experiment with different fruits and styles in it till u find the perfect combination that you love.

So ready to get started?

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage- 500g (Shredded)
  • Carrot- 2 or 3 medium sized (Shredded)
  • Mayonnaise- 1/2 cup
  • Sugar- 2 tbsp
  • Vinegar- 1 tbsp
  • Salt- 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper- 1/4 tsp
  • Lemon juice- 1 tbsp
  • Grapes (optional)

Procedure:

Whisk the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and lemon juice in a bowl to make it smooth and creamy. Add the shredded cabbage and carrots to the bowl and mix everything well.

Sprinkle salt and pepper for seasoning.

Lastly, add the grapes to the salad and mix well or if you want to keep the coleslaw classic, avoid fruits. You can use Apple, Pineapple, Cherry or a combination of fruits instead of grapes. Fruits can be added to enhance it’s taste and increase it’s nutritional value. Also fruits make the salad look unique and interesting rather than making it dull and boring. Yet, the classic remains the best, but occasionally variations are good.

Got a leftover coleslaw? Not to worry.. A classic coleslaw salad can be preserved in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks and can also be used as a layer in a sandwich.

You can experiment with the salad dressing by adding sour cream or buttermilk. Use green and red cabbage to make it look colorful and textured.
